Kalie Kosek, PA-C

Our board-certified PA, Kalie Kosek, is trained in all areas of facial assessment. She earned her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from The University of Florida's College of Medicine and now practices as part of the oculoplastic team led by John Fezza, M.D. She offers medical care for conditions of the eyes and face including unwanted/suspicious growths, entropion/ ectropion, chalazions, trichiasis, and tearing. She also specializes in functional Botox* treatment for blepharospasms and hemifacial spasms, always taking a thorough, patient-first approach so every individual understands their diagnosis and treatment options before moving forward with care. Kalie's years of experience and expertise make patients feel comfortable and confident in her care.

This same commitment to individualized care carries through her broader oculoplastic work, which covers a range of concerns affecting the delicate structures around the eyes, from eyelid position and function to skin lesions and chronic irritation. Below are some of the most common conditions Kalie treats, along with the diagnostic and treatment options she offers.

Stye, Hordeolum & Chalazion

Kalie specializes in treatments of these unwanted conditions. Treatments Kalie may offer include antibiotic/steroid drops or ointment, injection of steroid, or surgical incision and drainage

Excessive Tearing (Epiphora)

Tearing is multifactorial. Kalie will perform a slit lamp exam as well as probing and irrigation to determine the cause of your tearing. If needed, other surgical procedures may be warranted to help ameliorate the issue.

Eyelid Malposition

Sometimes, the eyelid, usually the lower eyelid, can turn inward or outward, causing significant irritation to the eye. A consultation with Kalie can help guide you towards the best treatment for these conditions.

Eyelid Skin Cancers

The eyelids are commonplace for skin cancers, especially Basal Cell Carcinomas. Kalie can perform an in-office biopsy to obtain a definitive diagnosis and rule out a skin cancer. The procedure can result in some swelling and bruising, but there is no associated down time.

Blepharospasms/Hemifacial Spasms

Medical Botox can be used to treat these involuntary muscle movements, which can be debilitating at times. Botox is FDA approved for the treatment of these conditions.

Trichiasis

Trichiasis is when the eyelashes grow in misdirected and scratch the eye. Kalie can perform in-office procedures to temporarily, and sometimes permanently, resolve the irritation.
